Innovations in Pain Medicine

Development Pipeline

Our Product Candidates

We are currently developing product candidates with indications for the treatment of moderate to severe postsurgical pain, cancer pain, neuropathic pain and chronic non-cancer pain. In addition, we own proprietary technology platforms involving abuse detrerence and extended release oral drug delivery, as well as opioid synergy. For more information on our products, please refer to our press releases and presentations under “News and Events”.

  • TQ-1011 is a proprietary injectable formulation of ketoprofen for the treatment of moderate to severe post-surgical pain. It provides rapid onset of pain relief and prolonged analgesia, superior to morphine, without the typical opioid side effects such as nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, constipation, itching and respiratory depression. It has more robust efficacy than intravenous acetaminophen and diclofenac.

  • TQ-1015 is a Broad Spectrum Analgesic™. It is an oral, once-a-day sustained release opioid in a proprietary abuse deterrent drug delivery system. It is more potent than many current therapies and has a novel pharmacologic profile. It may have a lower side effect profile than other opioids, which makes it extremely useful in opioid rotation regimens. TheraQuest intends to pursue approval for use of the product in chronic cancer and non-cancer pain. TQ-1015 will compete in the same opioid market segment as OxyContin™ and Duragesic™ (2005 U.S. opioid sales $8.2 billion).

  • TQ-1017 is a proprietary abuse deterrent, once-a-day, sustained release tramadol for the treatment of neuropathic pain, developed using TheraQuest’s SECUREL™ technology. It has a triple mechanism of action and lower abuse potential than scheduled opioids. TQ-1017 has received FDA Orphan Drug Designations for the management of postherpetic neuralgia and for the treatment of painful HIV-associated neuropathy. It will represent a first in class approval for neuropathic pain and it will compete with Neurontin™ (gabapentin), Lyrica® (pregabalin) and Lidoderm®, the only approved therapies for neuropathic pain.

  • TQ-1019 is a proprietary local anesthetic patch for the treatment of painful peripheral neuropathies, such as painful diabetic neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia and painful HIV-associated neuropathy. We expect that TQ-1019 will be used alone or in combination with oral therapies for neuropathic pain such as Lyrica™ and Cymbalta™. TQ-1019 will compete in the same market segment as Lidoderm™ patch, which has a sales forecast of $880 to $910 million for the U.S in 2006.
